Do Not Disturb (The Girl in 6E sequel) by A.R. Torre

Untitled - The Girl in 6E sequel - Alessandra Torre

REVIEW: Do Not Disturb is the 2nd book in the Deanna Madden series and it keeps the same dark erotic theme of previous installment. Do Not Disturb follows Deena’s struggles and inability to connect with the outside world. A world that threatens to bring out Deena’s dark side, a side that has proven to bring her not just pleasure but undeniable danger.

Do Not Disturb explores Deena’s life as a cam girl, it brings us into her world and shows us what it takes to be one of the best in the cam world. I think this time around Deena’s growth showed, her character was a bit more stable but it still suffering from the torments of her past. The line between right and wrong is blurred by the always existent dark desires. I like to think Deena’s problems come from the trauma lived but it makes me wonder if that fatal day was jut the catalyst of an insanity waiting to unleash.

I enjoyed the first book a lot, however I am not entirely sold on this second installment. The story dragged quite a bit and sadly for me it was quite predictable. The moment certain characters were introduced I knew they were culmination of this installment and I could easily map out the outcome. I will not deny I enjoy the descriptive and erotic ways in which the author explores Deena’s desires and thoughts. I think she does a fantastic job exploring her demons, her dark needs and wants that only a corrupted mind would enjoy.

Do Not Disturb transports us to a world where danger and pleasure come hand in hand making it almost impossible to differentiate which is more desirable by the characters. The way in these characters react and interact adds a morbid yet tantalizing twist to the story that one can’t help but enjoy. I think Deena and Jeremy story needs more, it still lacks the intensity I expect them to have, I think it does have what it needs to create an exciting couple, because of the nature of Deena’s story I think their romance could be a lot more exciting.

Do Not Disturb brings a very interesting twist and not always explore by authors. The difference between doing something because you need to vs doing something because you want to. While Deena’s story brings many aspects of a cam girl to the table, it is also a story that shows us how difficult it is to keep aside the dark side that lurks in the back her mind. The struggles that only she knows are kept a bait, while also being seduced by the routine and frivolities of a normal life that many take for granted while others crave to have.

I enjoyed the erotic part of this story, the enjoyment of a blatant cam show and the liberation that brings to the person behind the camera. The characters’ inability to hide their morbid desires, their need to explore, the level at which excitement seems to override logic is beautifully exposed and that made the story enjoyable for me. Do Not Disturb isn’t a typical love story, it can’t be labelled as typical in anyway. I enjoyed the author’s blunt and irreverent writing style, she manages to capture the thoughts of her characters and the actions that determines their future. I think A. Torre is one of those authors who is not afraid of exploring new way in story telling while also setting a path to bringing her characters and readers to new highs.

If you are looking for a story that explores all aspects of insanity, sex, raw and erotic acts as well as torture and violence grab Do Not Disturb, you will not regret it. However, if you are easily offended I suggest you stay away from this book because it certainly isn’t for the faint of heart.

Blyssfully Undone

Blyssfully Undone - J.C. Cliff **Originally posted @ ReadingDiva's Blog

REVIEW: The Blyss Trilogy has come to an end, and what an end it was. When I read the first book I wasn’t’ entirely sold on it, and even had reservations about it, but as I read book #2 (Blyssful Lies), and now book #3 Blyssfully Undone I can say how much I enjoyed the series overall.

Blyssfully Undone starts right where Blyssful Lies left off. Travis and Julianna on the run, fighting to stay alive and together. What I liked about this book even more so than the first two is how much more action we get, and the confrontation between Nick’s cronies and Travis’s group. The high level of risk in which these characters find themselves and the high level of action works for the story because of its dark theme, it adds intensity an instant sense of darkness that is expected in stories that deal with the sex trafficking. That bit of uncertainty made the story more real, more credible and all together more exciting.

In this final installment, we get a Julianna that has learned a lot not only about self defense, but also a great deal about herself. I liked that Julianna was still learning things about herself a woman, discovering desires that were hidden and which would’ve never been explored had she married her fiance. I also enjoyed how much mature her character had become.

She no longer let her emotions take over, she is more calculating, smarter about her decisions and a lot more in control of her actions. Though of course when it came to Travis her body dictated otherwise but even then she tried to maintain certain level of control. I loved their chemistry, the way their interaction maintained a connection that developed from more than just sexual attraction, how Travis always knew what she needed and was always able to calm the turmoil in her heart.

I also enjoyed how Travis handled the situation between him and Julianna, yes I wasn’t always happy to see how he always resorted to sex when it came to controlling Julianna’s inquiries for more information but I completely understood the reasons why. The author did a superb job exploring these characters limits and wants while also making them sensitive, intelligent and aware of each others feelings and emotions. The author also provides us with a strong and secure foundation from which these characters connection started, allowing the reader to ride the wave with them. Every angst, every desire and emotion was easily felt by the reader, which in terms allows for a stronger connection and an amazing reading experience.

The author created a series of events that were heart stopping, graphic and at times nail biting, giving Blyssfully Undone the thrilling feel of an action movie. I enjoyed every aspect of the story, from the deceits and lies between these characters to the emotional and steamy hot sex scenes. Every aspect of their story felt real, their emotions and desires, their actions and acceptance were beautifully exploit. I can’t recommend this series enough, if you are looking for an emotional and sexy, yet thrilling series to read look no further. The Blyss Trilogy has it all, from hot sex to extremely volatile and sexy anti-hero to sweet and dangerous hero. Everything about The Blyss Trilogy screams amazing, go for it you will not regret it.

Captive

Captive - Brighton Walsh Originally posted @ ReadingDiva's Blog

REVIEW: Captive is the story of Madison Frost – a girl whose life isn’t as perfect as it may seem. Behind the doors of her big mansion lies the secret of alcoholism, shame, lies, sadness and love. While her life doesn’t change much Madison goes on just because she needs to make sure her mother stays alive. Madison’s story is one we can identify as poor rich girl has a lot of money, great social status but lives a life of lies and betrayal.

Madison is twenty years old but the responsibility that falls over her shoulders make her feel a lot older, she doesn’t remember the last time she smiled or was happy, her mother has forgotten about her and her father doesn’t seem to care either way. But in a matter of seconds her life changes, when she becomes a captive of a man who would change her life for the worse, while making it sure that the future turns into the best. This is a story of acceptance and second chances.

I enjoyed Madison’s story even though it doesn’t read as a new adult novel. Her maturity at times refreshing and other times questionable, it brings to mind that while life throws difficult situations sometimes all at once is it up to the individual to decide how these tasks are handled. When it comes to romance novels and romance between the captor and the captive I have to say I have seen it all. They don’t always become original work, at times it feels like they have all be executed by the same authors because of their similarities to one another, and as a reader of romance I can’t help but compare them to one another.

Captive isn’t the exception, I read Captive wanting to find originality but I was disappointed to see it was not the case. However, the story itself was nicely executed and it gave me what I expected to find from these characters. Madison falls victim of a vicious and calculating man whose only business is to make sure his victims pay for their deeds. He kidnap them, he makes money. He doesn’t care what happens to them, as long as they pay and the rest is just a consequence of the business. Madison doesn’t fall under the usual MO and Gage (Ghost) find himself wondering why he accepted to take the job in the first place all while knowing there is more to Madison Frost that meets the eye. He falls slowly, but he falls without knowing that he captor will become the captive.

The story develops slowly, not much action happens in the first 50 percent of the book, once Madison is kidnap her interaction with Ghost goes from being the victim to becoming his friend and confidant. Though I thought their relationship developed nicely and its foundation strong, I think it lacked emotion and a sense of belonging that I would’ve liked to see after creating a strong connection. Their attraction lacked intensity, but perhaps that’s exactly what the author intended, both characters were young though their “experiences” were supposed to add drama it didn’t really have the angst one would expect.

The author did a good job exploring Madison’s feelings, giving us a clear picture of her thoughts, her discoveries and her curiosity about the man she was getting so close to. I enjoyed how the author exposes Madison feelings without losing touch of her sensibilities and need for love. However, I think her character lacked the maturity one expect to find in an twenty year old woman whose responsibilities are far greater than many other of her age and social status. Her frailty and innocence gave Madison an air of damsel in distress that I don’t usually enjoy in romance novels. However, I enjoyed how she stood up for what she believed was right and how she let her mind and heart dictate what would work best for her.

I enjoyed Ghost, the criminal who stole Madison’s heart and that of the readers. He is complex, sensitive, intelligent and cunning. His ability to adjust and modify his actions as needed is what made me like him. The author explored and exposed his feelings beautifully without taking away the roughness and masculinity readers enjoy. His sense of connection to Madison was sweet and his ability to accept his attraction puts many other male characters to shame. His background gave the story the needed spark of drama to make their love story sweet. While I didn’t necessarily understand some of his action I came to enjoy his character more than I did Madison’s.

Overall, Captive is a nice romance novel that plays well with the characters feelings and desires. Exploring the dark side of money and the consequences of humans actions. It also explores the sensuality of a woman coming to age and her need to find the love that would fill the void left by her family. If you enjoy damsel in distress stories and criminals with a sense of justice this story is for you.

Cursed by Fire

Cursed by Fire - Jacquelyn Frank **Originally posted @ ReadingDiva's Blog 3.5 of 5

REVIEW: I am a big far of Jacquelyn Frank and have read almost everything she has written. Having said that, I was very excited about the premise of Cursed by Fire. Jacquelyn Frank has written a very sweet and love story of sacrifice, love and triumph.

The story follows a battered hero, Dethan a man who once was powerful, a man who felt he could conquered the world around him. His conquests brought him power and riches, yet he felt he deserved more. Dethan and his band of brothers pursued to conquer immortality without considering the consequences.

After years of being punished by the gods in one of the 8 caves of hell, Dethan gets a visit by one of the gods. A god he once prayed to and fought for. The god’s offer to free Dethan and it is then when his quest for redemption starts. Dethan is one of those characters I like to read about, he is powerful, honest to a fault, caring and loyal. The punishment he received for hundreds of years did not break his spirit but it gave him a new perspective.

I think Jacquelyn Frank did a great job creating an alpha male that wasn’t always burden by indecisions and misunderstandings. I liked that about Dethan, he was focus and kept working towards what he was destined to do. That didn’t take away from his prospect as a lover or a man who also desired the pleasures of the flesh. I think that part of his character was also nicely explored. Dethan’s ability to acknowledge the changes in him was ultimately what I enjoyed the most, there was no unnecessary drama. Though not always willing to pursue his needs, Dethan understood that there were times when you can’t separate pleasure and feelings, that at times they come together and at the end only the heart can tell what is best for the soul.

I also enjoyed Selinda, one of the strongest female characters I have read in a while. Focus, yet sensitive to everyone around her. Her sacrifices made her more human and likeable. The author explores Selinda’s feelings beautifully while also giving us a very mature and head strong character who finds herself trapped in a set of circumstances that will forever alter her life. I found Selinda to be both charming and fascinating. While I am not a fan of damsel in distress characters I admit to have enjoyed her innocence. Don’t get me wrong, Belinda isn’t the oblivious and clueless female character that awaits to be saved, Belinda sets into motion the steps needed to guarantee her freedom while gaining Dethan’s promises of pleasure.

Cursed by Fire isn’t one of those sex focus stories, on the contrary, it is a sweet love story that explores the characters need for redemption while also exposing their needs, desires and sexual awakening. Dethan & Selinda are great characters, they complimented each other. Both are strong and focus, loyal and sensitive to others suffering. The one complain I have about the story is the pace, certain things took a bit long to develop while others such as the romance was set at a nice pace. I also would’ve liked more showing and less telling, the interaction was not as constant as I would’ve liked but don’t let that deter you from reading it. I enjoyed Cursed By Fire, I think anyone looking for a sweet love story with some angst will find Cursed By Fire to their liking.

City of Eternal Night (Crescent City)

City of Eternal Night (Crescent City) - Kristen Painter **Originally posted @ ReadingDiva's Blog**

REVIEW: City of Eternal Night is book #2 in the Crescent City Series by Kristen Painter, and the spinoff series to The House of Comarre Series. This story just keeps getting better, City of Eternal Night starts right off where House of Rising Sun ends. Harlow & Augustine are now sharing the house Olivia left them and they are discovering just how much attracted to one another they are.

I enjoyed City of Eternal Night very much, these characters have matured and evolved a lot. Harlow though reluctant to her Fae nature has learned to embrace it but not without reservations and even apprehension. I enjoyed how nice the story flowed, the conflict with Harlow’s father has taken a new spin and these characters find themselves fighting against a very powerful Fae.

Harlow’s life has changed drastically since her mother’s death, but what I like the most about the changes is how she understand that her life is hers to control and how she chooses to take the steps needed to keep her sanity. She is also interested in learning how gain control over her powers which she still doesn’t know much about. I think the author did a great job bringing a new spin to the story, the secret that keeps Harlow bound to her mother’s home and how she chooses to come to terms with the darkness that threatens to consume her. I love Painter’s writing style. It is simple yet so full of details that open the reader’s imagination to a world where anything is possible.

The world of the Fae and the exotic and dark nature of New Orleans give the story the needed spark to keep it interesting. The different types of Fae and the many different type of magic flowing around the story is entertaining without making it overwhelming. These characters have their good and bad traits, their needs and desire for power have created an array of conflicts that adds interest to the story. Kristen Painter has created a captivating world. A world with all kinds of creatures and magic, where witches, voodoo warlocks, vampires and ghosts, are in a constant struggle of power and conflicts but all the while giving City Of Eternal Night a captivating and sensual feel, where anything is possible and where power fuels these creatures souls.

Kristen explore Augustine and Harlow’s feeling quite nicely. She exposes their needs and wants without making it the focal point of the story. She gives us a love story that develops slowly, showing the characters true intention and forming alliances based on strong foundation. I enjoyed how Augustine and Harlow’s story moves slowly, giving their story a sense of reality and normalcy. City of Eternal Night is full of surprises and twists, it engages the reader to draw conclusions and to take sides, it evokes reactions and strong emotions. I enjoyed this installment and I can’t wait to read the next book. Kristen has proven to write spellbinding stories that captives the imagination.

The Darkest Seduction (Hqn)

The Darkest Seduction (Hqn) - Gena Showalter ***Originally posted @ ReadingDiva's Blog ***

REVIEW: The Lord Of The Underworld has been one of my favorite series to date and Gena Showalter one of my favorite PNR authors.

The Darkest Seduction is Paris’s story – to me Paris is one of the most exciting, funny and hot characters in the LOTU. Paris holds the demon of promiscuity within and can’t survive without sex, but there is a problem, Paris can’t have sex with the same woman more than once.

Paris has been fighting hunters for a long time, fighting for survival while also trying to find the artifacts that will help him and his friends find Pandora. In this installment of the LOTU we get a follow up to Sienna’s death. Paris non stop search for her to bring her to safety even if that means losing her forever, his inner battle with the dark that keeps trying to surface and his need to make Sienna his are what makes his story the more passionate. The author gave us a very matured, less playful and more focus Paris. This time he finally understands that there is more to the last encounter between him and Sienna, he feels there is more than his need to make sure she survives, and more to his need survival. I was happy to see these characters evolve and fight for what they thought to be just.

I enjoyed this installment very much – the way the author brought all these characters together again to create such an exciting story was amazing. I was happy to see Sienna coming out of the mold, she made her character a lot more enjoyable this time around. Her new abilities and strength gave the story the needed balance to make it a page turner. I liked how these characters fought for what they felt was right and held onto their sense of justice and loyalty. Paris’s story was heartfelt, the uncertainty and the many obstacles he had to overcome gave the story a sense of reality, it also made these characters more likeable. I like Sienna, her understanding and awaking into a world she always thought to be evil made her vulnerable but it also made her stronger.

I liked how she embraced her new reality and fought for her survival while also learning about sacrifice and respect for those around her. I think this story is one of my favorite so far. I liked that we got to see glimpses into other character’s life. I liked knowing how their relationships have evolved and how they are coping with the changes around them. I waited enough to read this book but I will not make the same mistake again. I will be picking up the next story and enjoy all these characters once again.

Gena Showalter is a great author, one that knows how to mix great romance with kick ass action without taking away the characters vulnerabilities while exploring the most deeply desires and feelings. If you are looking to read a great story of love and sacrifice then look no further.

Night's Blaze

Night's Blaze - Donna Grant

REVIEW: It is a bit strange for me to read a series out of order, but do not blame me entirely. When I saw Night’s Blaze for grabs in NetGalley I jumped to the chance because I saw it was a serial and not as part of an already quite established series. Well, let me tell you, the author did a great job with this book. I found myself absorbed and enthralled by the plot and unique set of events. I enjoyed the characters and I will certainly go back and read the other books in the series. Night’s Blaze is passionate, heart wrenching and sexy.  Though this is a series, the book can also read as a standalone, yes there are mentions of other characters and events but that doesn’t take away the standalone feel of the story.

The plot was entertaining, dragons living among humans for millennia and trying to maintain the balance that is on the brink of being broken and in terms bringing the dragon race to full exposure which may end up causing a war between the species (humans/Fae/dragons). These characters are complex, unique and well developed. I found them refreshing and entertaining. Rhys & Lily’s story is romantic, sexy and hot. Their interaction flows easily, I enjoyed how easily it was for Rhys and Lily to accept their feelings without adding unnecessary drama. The plot gave the story the necessary balance and added a spark of uncertainty and drama that was needed without pushing back the love story. These two characters have a lot of passion, they trust on each other to heal their wounds and rely on their love to fight for their ever after. I enjoyed Rhys and Lily a lot because unlike many other characters in paranormal, they do not deny their attraction or simply fight their feelings. On the contrary, they both embrace what they were certain would bring happiness.

The world of the Dragons is an unique and well developed theme that will put a lot other paranormal romance to shame. It has great European feel, giving us an escapade to glorious cities and settings. Donna Grant writes beautiful love stories and entertaining characters, if you are looking for a story that brings passion, sexy steamy romance and intelligent characters, Night’s Blaze is for you.

The Master (The Game Maker Series)

The Master (The Game Maker Series) - Kresley Cole **Originally posted @ ReadingDiva's Blog

REVIEW: If you read book #1 of the Game Maker Series you have then started to understand why these Russians have us ladies fanning ourselves. They are just to hot and to alpha. The Master is book #2 in the Game Maker Series and it is not less amazing than book #1. I probably sound like I am rambling and perhaps I am but this book was so hot I had to walk away a few times.

The Master is Maksimilian Sevastyan story, a story that isn’t less intense, or less heart breaking than that of the Syberian. Maksimilian (Maxim) is a man who knows pain, psychological and physical but that hasn’t stop him from becoming a very powerful, dangerous rich man. Maxim (as Cat’s calls him) is sexy, powerful and a business man. A man who enjoy sex and the kinks of submission and domination and he prefers them tall, blonde and submissive. That’s until he meets a sexy witty and spicy Latina.

I enjoyed this story so much for many reasons, one is that I think everyone who reads this story will be able to relate to Cat Martinez (Ana Lucia). She is funny, smart, mouthy and isn’t afraid to call it like she sees it. She has a playful spirit but behind that veil of sexuality and witty remarks hides a woman whose heart has been broken and is just looking to survive.

This story explores the what if’s in life, while allowing the reader to measure their own decisions and consequences. It explores the reality of many people, the contradictions of life, the obstacles and the ultimate reality that we have the reigns of our own destiny only if we are ready for it. It also takes us into the world of a woman whose past keeps hunting her, and even though Cat is young, she has suffer deeply and her loses have been great. I enjoyed reading about her, her mind and her feelings were beautifully exploit. Author Cole was able to transport us into Cat’s world, a world new to her but a world that opened the door to an escape, to a possible future and shot at a second chance.

I really enjoyed the dynamics between these two characters. Each character had a very different background but their differences brought them together. Each brought something unique to the story, Maxim gave us power, richness, dominance and control, while Cat gave us witty humor and a spicy personality that would put many other characters to shame. She was sensual, beautiful and with a great heart. The interaction between these characters was explosive, beautifully developed and well played out. I enjoyed their sexual escapades and scenes, the details, their dialog and their dirty talk was explosive.

Each character gave the story a certain balance, each with their own story to tell and each found on one another the needed support that made it all happen. Of course not without going through the aggravations and conflicts that would make it all worthwhile at the end. This story is fun, perhaps more dramatic than that of The Professional but not less intense and sexual. There was a sense of reality in this story that made it fresh and interesting perhaps not so much on the male side of the story but Cat’s story could easily hit home for some readers. Perhaps it was her background, or perhaps her need to hide her feelings, I am sure that many will identify with her and would love her no less than they love Maxim.

Kresley Cole has given us a great second installment in the Game Maker Series, one that will shatter your heart and put it all together with bits of passion and steamy sex. Have a fan and cold water on the ready, you will need it.

Burned

Burned - Karen Marie Moning **Originally posted @ReadingDiva's Blog

REVIEW: It is difficult to write a review of a book you love to hate, and actually hate it because it ended. I can come up with all sort of things to say about Burned but as I write this I am trying to organize my thoughts into what I think will be an opinion that will help you change your mind about what you want to read next.

The Fever Series has been phenomenal in so many ways. However, that does not mean it can’t be frustrating at times. Burned brought back Mac and Barrons. Two of my favorite characters and two of the strongest characters I have ever had the pleasure to read about. In this installment of the Fever Series, Mac is back on the streets trying to keep evil at bait but doing a really poor job of it. While she is still trying to come to terms with the truth about who killed her sister she is also trying to come to terms with the power and evil that resides inside her.

What I found in the pages of Burned is a very engaging, and intricate world that keeps evolving. The evil keeps getting stronger and Mac keeps doubting herself, while also trying to accept her reality and perhaps finally understanding that though Barrons has always been there for her, he also has secrets to hide. Burned also brings a lot more complications to the table, relationships are put to the test by the many changes and conflicts that keep re-appearing and though loyalties stay strong there are times when these characters find themselves doubting and forming unexpected alliances.

Burned has a lot going on, there are multiple situations and points of view going in this story. The feelings and emotions of these characters are put to play a game that only the stronger can survive. I loved how the author was able to manipulate and maintain such an intricate plot, where we go from one state of mind to another, from one character to the next without the story losing its essence and flow.

What I find to be at times disappointing is how little to no grow we see in Mac, it seems as if the time that has passed hasn’t given her any maturity. Her thoughts and behavior are at times childish and more times than not, her actions are inconsequential. I was not completely sold on her character this time around. Other characters become part of the action, some at lot more than others. We are introduced to the 9 but only get a glimpsed of Lor who seem to be the next character to hold a certain importance in the story to follow.

I feel there was a lot more to these characters than we were given, there are things I would’ve liked to be addressed such as the changes experienced by Dani. I think it could’ve been explored a lot more, perhaps even give the readers pointers into understanding how it all happened. What changed and what triggered the domino effect. I am happy to have read the book, I was looking forward to what was in housed for these characters, I am however even more excited to see how some of these characters are becoming more important than others, how their alliances is going to play out and how their relationships are going to develop.

Burned brings a whole new level in the game to surviving where only the stronger stays afloat. If you are yet to read this book, I suggest you get to it. Be ready to enter a world filled with a lot of testosterone and dominance. Alpha has a whole new meaning and it all points to LOR.

The Virgin by Tiffany Reisz

Untitled - Tiffany Reisz

**Review originally posted @ ReadingDiva's Blog

REVIEW: This review can start in many different ways, I can start by saying how much I love The Original Sinners Series and the characters, their stories and their lives. It can also start by saying how much I love and admire Tiffany Reisz for her ability to create such an amazing world of sex and passion, pain and pleasure. I could find many other different ways to say how amazing I find the books and stories she writes, I can also say that no other author has been able to convey the feelings and passion these characters felt, while bringing the reader closer and deeper into their world, passion and lust.

I could go on and tell you that as a reader it is difficult not to love these characters, from Michael to Søren there is something that compelled me to devote a piece of my heart to their love and devotion for one another. I could go on and just praise this author and her writing style, her characters (all over again), their stories and passions, the way in which one is transported to a world of kink. There are so many ways to tell you how great her books are. However, I have chosen just one word to describe it, SPECTACULAR!.

The Virgin brings us back to the time when Nora ran, not to, but from the man she has always loved. The story beautifully flashes between the times of intense happiness and deep sorrow. Giving us glimpses into the time when all these characters were going through life altering experiences, from new found endurance, to needs and desires. From the moment possessive need took place, to the time acceptance was the only way. The Virgin covers every aspect of Nora’s life, before, during and after she becomes who she is now, what caused the changes and how she faced the consequences. The Virgin will surprise you, it will enlighten you in ways that only Tiffany Reisz can do. The Virgin explores Kingsley’s feelings, actions, needs, sorrow and pain. Readers will find the answers and reasons of why and how things came to be. Every page, ever paragraph gives us glimpses into the life of our beloved characters.

If you are yet to read any books by Tiffany Reisz, I suggest you start NOW. Her stories and characters feel so human that one can’t help but imagine them as if they were real. Her writing style is smart, fresh, funny, sexy & sinful. The Virgin was everything I expected and more. The back stories on these characters we have come to adore and the many questions we once had, have now been answered. Read The Virgin, enjoy it, savor it because there is no other way to read it. Tiffany’s books were not written to be read, they were written to be devoured.

Her Dark Angel

Her Dark Angel (Her Angel: Bound Warriors #1) - Felicity Heaton **Post originally posted @ ReadingDiva's Blog - Rating 3.5 of 5**

REVIEW: Her Dark Angel is book #1 of the Her Angel Series. I have read a few books by Felicity Heaton and I can honestly say I enjoy her writing style. This short story introduces us to Apollyon the angel of destruction and the witch Serenity.

The story isn’t long but it is nicely crafted. Serenety has had her heart broken by a cheating boyfriend. She seeks revenge and wants to make her ex-boyfriend pay. She seeks the help of Apollyon (Abanddon) but little did she know is that by asking for his help she would find herself losing her heart once again.

The story isn’t very long but it is sweet, heart felt and interesting. The characters are easily likeable, Apollyon possess a very strong sense of loyalty and Serenity gives her heart completely making this couple a favorite. Her Angel series started off in the right direction and I am certain I will be reading more of this series. Felicity Heaton knows when to add sweetness to a story and when to make it spicy creating a great balance.

If you are looking for a short sweet paranormal romance Her Dark Angel is for you.

Review: Master Of Crows by Grace Draven

Master of Crows - Grace Draven

Author note: This fantasy romance contains adult situations and graphic descriptions of physical intimacy.

REVIEW: Master Of Crows is an adult fantasy novel that brings magic and sexy to new highs. I haven’t read adult fantasy in a very long time, I still don’t know why I stopped but I am happy to have chosen this book to start again. Master Of Crows is beautifully written, the setting is hunting and beautiful, and the story and characters are fantastic.

Master of Crows is the story of Silhara an outcast and feared magician, who was born to serve as an avatar to the God of Corruption. The story flows beautifully, the author creates a beautiful world of magic and power where the character’s aren’t always in charge of their own destiny.

Silhara was born to be the avatar, the perfect vessel, strong and intelligent and with the skills needed by the God of Corruption. The God of Corruption is determined to rule  the world and while Silhara is tempted by its power and promises of respect and devotion he isn’t easily seduced. He prefers to die than being a slave of Corruption, that’s until his heart falls for his apprentice. An unassuming woman who is in possession of a great gift, a gift that could give him power and life but one that could easily be his death.

I really enjoyed this story, the character development was fantastic. Their dialogue and interaction was funny and intelligent. Martise was lovely, from her calm and strong personality to her  blunt and not so innocent flirts with Silhara, I loved her character. Silhara at times intuitive, yet always intelligent and calculating. His past one that inflicted suffering but that past shaped him into the man he became. His story developed beautifully, the author did a great job exploring his feelings and desires.  The character developed at the same pace as the story flowed, never slowing but never feeling rushed.

The characters feelings developed slowly, this was not love at first sight which I enjoyed. Martise was not the typical damsel in distress, her character is strong and smart. It brings the balance necessary to the story, creating a funny yet intelligent interaction that at times makes you gasp, while in often times makes you giggle. I loved how their love grew and their actions dictated their future.

Master of Crows is a great steamy love story that pushes the boundaries of the genre. At times extremely sexy and imaginative, others beautiful and poetic. I can’t recommend this book enough, if you are looking for an unique story with touches of fantasy and beautiful world building yet a steamy and detailed romance this is the book for you. This story touches the reality of love and the sacrifices that comes with it, putting in question if love is a sacrifice all on its own.

Review: Blyssful Lies by J.C. Cliff

Blyssful Lies - J.C. Cliff

REVIEW: Blyssful Lies is the second installment in the Blyss Series. The story starts right where Blyss left off, Julie is recuperating from a confrontation with Nick. I was skeptical at how good the 2nd installment would be, considering I felt the first book in the series “Blyss” left me feeling like there was not much substance to the characters and the plot. I am happy to say that I was blown away this time around by the quality of this installment. The characters are a lot more developed and intriguing, giving me exactly what I expected to see and feel from them. The sense of uncertainty that I felt when reading Blyss has dissipated and in its place a sense of contentment as been put in its place.

The plot has thickened and it brings a new development to the story. Julie and Travis are on the run; Travis felt it necessary to take Julie away from Nick not without considering the retaliation and the force in which he would attack. However, there is the possibility that is it not just Nick trying to get Julie back. The situations in which these three characters have found themselves are a creation of the world in which they live in. Nick though again we don’t get much from him has promised revenge and I am looking forward to the cruelty to which I am sure he will subject both Julie and Travis. Nick is showing his vulnerability, however his control and strength keeps his mind steady while his heart is in turmoil.

Julie has gone from frail and scared to a tigress ready to pounce and take control of her life and do anything necessary to make it happen. I think there is more to Julie than her beauty, her character feels a lot stronger now than she did before. She shows a stronger voice and her actions mirror her thoughts. Travis on the other hand is acting on impulse and that surprised me. I felt that he was in control, opposite to Nick’s volatile persona; however that hasn’t proven to be the case. Travis is letting his feelings drive him; his heart has decided what’s best for him and Julie without judging the eminent danger in which they have put them both. The author has done a superb job exploring the feelings and emotions of these characters. She has given us a more mature Julie and a very vulnerable Travis without portraying him as weak. Nick sees control slipping from his hands and that is something I would’ve liked to see more of. The author has given us a lot more of Julie & Travis relationship, their feelings are being exposed and their attraction and sexual tension has grown exponentially. It is a treat to see them interact, their dialog flows easily, their banter is sexy and their sexual encounters explosive.

I am really happy to have read this second installment. Blyssful Lies is explosive & sexy. The action and sense of danger brings the most needed balance to the story without taking away the dark, romantic and sensual flow of the story. The plot is provocative and hasn’t steered away from its dark and painful nature while the characters have maintained and developed whole new levels of control, sadism and promise of pains. I am a big fan of anti—heroes and that is why I am rooting for Nick. I think readers will feel captivated by the new developments, by the romance and the possibility of great danger.

Review: Ticker by Lisa Mantchev

Ticker - Lisa Mantchev

REVIEW: When I came across Ticker on Amazon and I was given the chance to participate on the Kindle First program. I am happy I did because Ticker was a lot of fun to read. Ticker is a YA Steampunk filled with adventure, science and witty characters.

I enjoyed reading Ticker, the story was fun and entertaining. Penny Farthing is smart, beautiful and hardheaded. Her love for life usually put her in situations not always desired, her heart may be weak but her spirit is strong. The Farthing family suffers from a condition that threatens the women to die at a young age, after Penny’s older sister die suddenly during her eighteen birthday Penny knew it was just time before death claimed her too.

Penny’s way to mourn put her in a precarious situation when her selfish behavior caused her to have an accident and as a consequence her heart gave up. This accident started to unfold a chain of events that would put Penny’s life and those around her in great danger. The author gives us a great story, beautifully written and filled with fascinating description of old London. She also portrays the madness behind a scientist and his desire and need to evade and cheat death. His heart once broken by the death of his beloved Dimitria and a promise that would one day bring pain to those he once loved.

Mad scientist usually make great villains, that’s exactly the case of Calvin Warwick, a scientist whose grieve was deep and maddening enough to send him into a rampage of crime and murder all in the name of science. The action was non-stop, I liked how well and nicely paced the scenes were. The intensity of some of them quite graphic and thrilling. I enjoyed every aspect of this story. The romance though it wasn’t greatly developed it was paced nicely. It was not intense or the main focus, but it played an important part on bringing some of the characters together.

The characters were well rounded and smart, their interaction and dialog greatly developed and their connection beautifully exploit. The technology and science was nicely explored giving this story a unique and interesting twist. Ticker has all the needed ingredients to make the story interesting, it gives us human interaction, friendship, romance, deceit & forgiveness. All of this makes Ticker a fun and sweet holiday day that you would like to share.

Overall, Ticker is a great YA Steampunk that would keep readers entertained. Fans of Kady Cross may find themselves enticed to read Ticker. If you chose to do so, you will not be disappointed.

Debt Inheritance

Debt Inheritance - Pepper Winters **Originally posted @ SinfulReads Blog - Rating 3.5 of 5

REVIEW: There are times when we crave a story that can break the mold, a story that is capable of putting us on edge, capable of putting our head on a spin and our heart in turmoil. Debt Inheritance is one of those stories. When I came across Debt Inheritance I was looking to find something different, something that didn’t reflect on stories I have read before, or sounded similar to stories that have been buzzing around Twitter & Facebook.

Debt Inherent is the story of a cruel and old legacy left by a family that was wronged many years ago, a legacy that despite time it still lives in the life of those who maintain the tradition trying to make right what was once wrong. Nila Weaver comes from a wealthy family, a family that for many years have maintain wealth and financial freedom through the their work in textiles, and which has pass from generation to generation.

Nila is an accomplished fashion designer, a young woman who despite her wealthy life, she dedicates her time to working and keeping her face out of the spotlight of cameras and gossip magazines. Though in her 20s, Nila lacks the experience most girls her age posses, always kept in the dark and under heavy protection from her brother and father, not able to do much besides work. Nila’s life takes a turn when she meets the stone cold Jethro Hawk. A man she has never met before but a man who seem to put her father on alert, a man who seems to keep his control safely guarded and cold as he keeps his heart.

The story flows nicely following each characters turmoil, indecision and demons. The way in which the story develops takes us into a slow and detailed world of old money, tradition and a sect like family that keeps their promises and their past close by. I enjoyed the premise of the story, new and unexplored. Two families both wealthy, one indebted by the actions of the past, a legacy of money, lies & a chain of intriguing events make this story one of its kind. The way in which each family keep its secret adds the needed suspense, the tasks “debt payments” combine sex and pain, which are not always supposed to be pleasurable but due to the connection & attraction between Nila & Jethro the line between pain and pleasure crosses path more often than intended. The characters are interesting, not necessarily unique but worth exploring, their history unexpected yet enjoyable, their actions reckless but satisfying. I enjoyed every aspect of how this story flows, the sense of “real” is easy to accept. I enjoyed the sex, the innuendos, their reactions and inaction, their realizations and acceptance, their exchange and dialog, the combination of all of this makes Debt Inheritance an interesting first book.
If you enjoy stories with manipulative men, dark family history and dirty laundry Debt Inheritance is for you.
